After surveying the places that form this infernal geography, Allemand retraces Guénon's theses on the degeneration of Western culture, with particular reference to the events surrounding the Templars: for Guénon, the destruction of the Order of the Temple by the King of France is the most evident manifestation of the revolt of secular power against priestly authority. This path of spiritual death would continue with the Protestant Reformation, the French Revolution, democracy, and communism, all the way to the current globalized apocalypse that concludes the long series of anti-Christian epiphanies, marking the triumph of counter-initiation.
